Hour of Code Reflection

This past week I found myself indulged for an hour in a game in which I played using code for an hour. It was a fun experience especially with the wonderful beverages provided by Mr. David Mccune. Although I had fun with this celebrity endorsed project, I was stuck on level 9 for a long time. Not only did I require help from Mr. Mccune but also from a fellow student Henry Sanchez. At the end of the period, I had learned how coding is very important not only to our internet lives but our daily lives, as well. I enjoyed how the creator of this project chose to use popular games and movies in order to get across his point that coding isn't just interesting to the No-Life-Bob but also to many young adults. What is the difference between parallel and non-parallel lines cut by a transversal?

The difference between parallel lines and non-parallel lines that are cut by a transversal is that once the parallel lines are cut, their corresponding angles are congruent. Non-parallel lines don't necessarily have congruent corresponding angles. For example, in the picture in the top left, angles 4 and 5 are congruent but in the top right, angles 5 and 3 aren't congruent. Stay Classy!

Transversals

Transversals are lines that intersect two or more coplanar lines at different points. The green line in this picture is a transversal.

LINEAR PAIRS and VERTICAL ANGLES

Linear Pairs share the same vertex but have uncommon sides and Vertical Angles are typical opposite from each other.

Lines!!!

Today I learned about Parallel, Perpendicular, and Skew Lines. Parallel lines don't intersect but travel in the same direction. Perpendicular lines intersect to form a right angle. Skew Lines don't intersect at all and are not on the same plane. The difference between non parallel lines in the same plane and skew lines is that skew lie not in the same plane. ;-)

Law of the syllogism

A syllogism is a group of statements and in this case we are using If...Then statements.
If I'm a gentleman then I have a tie
If I have a tie then I have class
If I'm a gentleman then I have class

Desmos House

This is my house that I created on Desmos. I used various angles and segments. It is mostly made out of segments but the roof is made up of acute angles, the window is made up of right angles and connecting the side of the house to the roof makes an obtuse angle. The innovative door is what it is-innovative. The red object above it is a cover in the shape of a rectangle and check it out! That's my house. I used about 33 equations to make it and it was worth it. ;-) The challenge  was the roof. I decided to make it uniquely weird.

How Many Handshakes

The question is how many handshakes would be in a group if everyone were to shake each other's hands twice. P stands for people(in a group), HS stands for handshakes. I wrote down the the number of people in a group first. N just happened to be the same number as people in a group. then I started to evaluate my information and start finding the handshakes. I used shapes to find the handshakes, crossing lines to represent handshakes. By the fourth group, I had already established a pattern but I used the fifth group to check my hypothesis and as you can see I didn't draw a shape for the sixth group and that is because I had proven my hypothesis thus following the pattern. Finally, I looked back at the pattern and wrote it in function form(luckily for me the N=P so it was easier for me). My conclusion was that N(N-1)= F(N). Lets test it 2(2-1)=2 which happens to be the number of HS. Maybe that was a coincidence lets try a bigger number 5(5-1)=20. Wow! I challenge you to prove me wrong on this hypothesis. If you can't, you know why. Stay Classy!

Why Math?

Math can be used in many ways in life. The three main doorways are personal, practical and spiritual.
The one that stands out and that is the most useful right now is practical. Its easy to use math in a practical way. You can use it measure everyday things to things like how much carpet you'll need in your house.  Why pay someone to do your math when you could do it yourself? You could even make budgets and save money for that car you've been wanting. It stands out to me personally because i need to get through high school and college in order to be a success in life. Ephesians 1:14 because God guarantees my inheritance in the future and one of the ways he can do that is through math. It would guarantee a successful business life whichh would eventually mean a successful life in general.

Welcome to Big Math!

Hi there Math Buddies. My name is Nkosi Odeke and I will be your big mathematician. The three most important things to me are God, Family, and Friends. This year I'm excited about learning math skills with new people. This anxious about my grades. One thing you might not know about me is that I'm a Chelsea fan.
