My Desmos Face

This was the most fun I've had doing a project in a long time. This was so fun. Creating an image out math equations brings a more realistic perception of Math in the real world. What was challenging was figuring out different equations to make different things you need for the face. It makes you think about how good at math God had to be to create different 3D models that we now accept as everyday sights. What was easy was the glasses at least for me. This project gave me a new view on math and Geometry. I used equations for circles, lines, boundaries, parabolas etc. Overall, this was a very productive project.

7.4-7.6

7.4
If two corresponding sides are proportional, then the triangles are similar.
If the corresponding angle is congruent and the sides are proportional the triangle is similar.
Nothing confused me about 7.4. It was quite easy.
7.5
If a line intersects triangles in the middle it divides them proportionally
If a line divides 2 sides of a triangle proportionally it is parallel to the third side
The segment dividing triangle is half as long as the third side
This was easy
7.6
Dilation-a transformation from the center affecting the scale factor.
I had a hard time discerning the scale factors but I think I’ve got the hang of it now.

7.1-7.3 Study Guide

7.1
·         Ratio- a comparison of a to b
·         Proportion- two equal ratios
·         Means and extremes- the extreme is the first and last number of a proportion and the means are the middle numbers.
7.2
·         Similar polygons- If corresponding angles are congruent and lines similar
·         Scale Factor- ratio of lengths of 2 corresponding sides
7.3

AA- If two angles are congruent with other angles of a different triangle the triangles are similar.

Hour of Code Reflection

This past week I found myself indulged for an hour in a game in which I played using code for an hour. It was a fun experience especially with the wonderful beverages provided by Mr. David Mccune. Although I had fun with this celebrity endorsed project, I was stuck on level 9 for a long time. Not only did I require help from Mr. Mccune but also from a fellow student Henry Sanchez. At the end of the period, I had learned how coding is very important not only to our internet lives but our daily lives, as well. I enjoyed how the creator of this project chose to use popular games and movies in order to get across his point that coding isn't just interesting to the No-Life-Bob but also to many young adults. What is the difference between parallel and non-parallel lines cut by a transversal?

The difference between parallel lines and non-parallel lines that are cut by a transversal is that once the parallel lines are cut, their corresponding angles are congruent. Non-parallel lines don't necessarily have congruent corresponding angles. For example, in the picture in the top left, angles 4 and 5 are congruent but in the top right, angles 5 and 3 aren't congruent. Stay Classy!
